I was inspired by God to write this poem as my heart aches with the pain of love lost. I am in a pattern of learning wisdom concerning heart matters through Jesus Christ my Lord. Though I may seem to some an unstable mess, I am truly Rock stable through Christ my Redeemer. I have been said to be “too honest” by some closest to me and thought to be the same, though unsaid, by many others. It is true that I am learning to embrace who I am and was made to be but more wisely. I am not like so many other men. My force and strength and stability is not in some hard exterior but an unwavering interior. Though the sails be battered and the ship broken and tossed this life I live is never again lost! No one enjoys a mess. In fact, even God doesn’t like our mess, I am convinced, but, He stands in us and with us to see every mess made clean through our eternal hope found in Christ. Though I know it in theory, not being an expert in love, I am learning that you can only believe in others what they are willing to show and not what they say alone. This a painful, messy lesson that I must learn. I eat my fault and blame no other but the enemy who in Christ, already, I am victorious over. I learn and am made wise without the lasting weight of unforgiveness and regret to hold me down. Praise God! I pray that all will be made free and walk in this victory despite the present mess we may find ourselves. God bless!

Messy is the broken heart

That all too easily falls apart

Stained, messy shards that stick

eerie groans from the heart that’s sick

No rhyme nor reason from the heart that’s wronged

No respite found in another’s song

Hope’s life burns ever less

In the wake of an untimely mess

Fate that’s uncertain, love inundated with pain

Hopelessness falls like pouring rain

Christ, my reminder that rain always ends

And by His glory hearts will mend

I Will Be Loved

soft_love_1I was inspired by God to write this poem right after “Tug of War”. Amazingly, this is the only time that I have been moved to right one poem right after the other. I believe it is God’s way of reaffirming His promise to me in light of my recent pain, reflected in “Tug of War”.  God wrote a poem through me in 2009 promising me a godly woman, a wife that would truly be my mate and ours a relationship that would rival all others. Though the poem has been lost, my hope and faith in having this promise realized is not. I was reminded in this poem, “Godly Woman” and since that the only criteria in seeing His promise realized is too stay ensued in Him. I do hope that my faith in God and His promise, despite seeming obstacles and pain, will encourage you in your own quest for a godly mate and to be, always, in Christ a godly mate!  God bless.

I Will Be Loved

I will be loved for God had promised it to me

My heart will be another’s and hers mine eternally

It seems often to be impossible, at least for me

But my Lord’s sweet promise, I am sure to see

The key, not in the looking, frantically nor otherwise

Patiently, patiently waiting, enduring pain, love in disguise

For I am being fashioned in God’s tender hand

In the fire of His love, eternal, in an unholy land

I resolve to stand close at His side never to part

As I trust that He works intently to purify my heart

In the woman designed for me, also, He patiently works

Cleansing every blemish, leaving every beautiful quirk

Well worth the wait, though, impatient, I’ve balked at the door

Reaffirmed, I’ll sit and be quiet, waiting still as before

Learning all of my first love’s lessons, be ready to hold her hand

Not to pull her nor to push her but to faithfully by her side stand

To gaze in her eyes is to know peace, love’s pools reflected in me

I’ll hold her with passion that’s firm, always emitting security

I’ll be an example of power that only can come from God

Yet, humbly, shower with praise afresh and spare the lightening rod

Not being surprised when disagreement comes nor afraid

On Christ, our unshakable foundation a lasting love will be laid

From the start, we’ll kneel together, our hands committedly entwined

Every storm we’ll weather, drunk on the sweetest grape and purest wine

But for now it’s not good to wander so in Christ I patiently wait

Knowing God is faithful that promised Who will present in His time my mate

Though often it seems impossible, at least for me

I know that my Lord’s sweet promise I am sure to see

My heart will be another’s and hers mine eternally

I will be loved for God has promised it to me.

Tug of War

I was inspired by God to write this poem, “Tug of War” after kissing the dirt rather hard and sudden! I, looking back, did all the wrong things in trying to win the affection of a godly woman which I had the rare honor to know. I was a fool for her. I definitely did not play the game strategically at all! As it occurs so often in life, an important life lesson was learned through the reflection of utter failure. The relationship for me was almost instantly ethereal! Tears fill my eyes as I reflect to the joy I knew, yet all too sudden. This woman also reciprocated the attraction and the uncanny familiarity that we, almost instantly, mutually shared. Given my lack of experience in how to gender a healthy, strong relationship with a woman and her understandable fear of further hurt and a broken heart, it was a relationship that was doomed from the start.  My heart was, almost, instantly slipping away from my grasp into her own. I pulled too hard and she released the rope of mutual affection.  I don’t fault her but I do miss her. With some sadness, I do thank her for a lesson that I most assuredly needed which is meted out in this poem.

Tug of War

The game of when man meets woman

Much like tug of war with a rope

Each in turn shows interest… not too sudden

Slow to take up the slack of hope

As each in turn shows they care some

There’s a very real yet gentle pull

Keep your head; dont get lost in pleasures to come

Patience will keep you from playing the fool

Match the tug of your partner, building slightly

Not too strong but ever so real

Take care not to hold on too tightly

Though it seems a battle, up hill

Respect her time and heart that’s been hurt

Don’t pull with all of your might

If one suddenly releases, the other kisses the dirt

Keep your head, the strategy that’s right

To keep your head is to keep your feet planted

lose it and unbalanced you’ll fall

Take no word or act for granted

Or you’ll risk losing it all

To let your heart show a little is good

Eek it out, gradual, in time with her

Treat her well, attentive as you should

Holding back not wanting to smother

Take care to show regular growing interest

Keep the rope steady and taut

Each endearing act of caring will invest

In a strong, healthy relationship well sought

The ideal outcome in this tug of war

Would be a mutual surrender

A surrender of hearts worth waiting for

No more a borrower nor lender

The game no more but a love oh so real

Hand in hand they’ll walk together

With heaven’s bond and God’s seal

Let Me Not

This poem was inspired as I thought on recent temptations that shamefully I found myself looking to. I know in my heart that these things hold absolutely nothing for me but sorrow and shame. There is a real hunger and thirst that we must endure for a season that our bellies might be filled with the very best God has in store for us. Please, face the shame and endure the gnawing but for a season. Our God is faithful who has promised! I, as many of you must battle loneliness. It is worth the wait and the pain of having no mate with which to share life.  God has promised to pair me with the best that He has for me. Also, the distractions of this world can rob us of a prayer life, pleasing to God and one which would help see our brothers and sisters set free. To repent is essential in living a victorious life over sin. Repentance is regurgitation of poisoned bread. It cleanses our bellies for the Bread of Life! A life of self-denial is less and less popular, but, as Jesus taught, is required if we are to live victoriously. Let only God lead the way and live victoriously!

Let Me Not

Let me not grow weary when the sun beats hot

Let me not fall short of what You’ve got

For me to do, for me to be

The task designed uniquely for me

Sometimes I wonder if my place is sure

I faint near to fall; can I endure

I’ve no place to go where I have been

So I’ll journey on in the Wilderness Sin

I must resist this torrent, this flood

Continue to wade the muck and the mud

To keep my eyes forward on the Cloud by day

My sweet Lord always guides my way

Let me not grow weary when darkness falls

Let me listen intently for my Saviour’s calls

To know His will and His way for me

Because, despite my eyes, I can not see

I must not drink from the pools all around

Only in my Saviour’s well can Living Water be found

My soul, don’t complain when your thirst is hot

Please wait; drink the water your Saviour’s got

Wander not for the whore’s bread, poisoned but sweet

Cry out to God; He is your meat

Resist to eat the bread that you knew

Belly, gnawing with hunger, eat what is True

Keep your eyes in the night on the Pillar of Fire

Love for you Lord, my burning desire

About the Author

I am Patrick Brady, God’s evangelist, gifted by His eternal Spirit through Christ to empower others to witness truth, grace and love. I was saved according to scripture (Romans 10:9,10) at age eleven. Despite this real, new-life experience, I strayed at age sixteen, and like the man described in James 1:6-8, I was a double minded man and unstable in all my ways. However at age 39, I surrendered all, the very thing that God had patiently waited for and encouraged in me. On Aug 15, 2009, just three months after my surrender, He filled me with His Holy Fire to overflow. Now more than six years later, I am not perfect, but without excuse, I am being perfected in Him who is! Ever since, I have been a man on fire, ever learning to walk more perfectly in Christ and for Christ that others might see and be set free through His love.

I seek to walk by faith and to walk by the light of God’s Word made alive in me through His Spirit. I am learning that despite my weakness, God’s message can perfectly pierce the hungry, waiting heart with a burning message of eternal hope and a living salvation meant to catch others aflame with God’s undying love. I encourage all who are “hungry for righteousness” to surrender to God and make Jesus Lord of your life. Welcome Him to fill you to overflow with His Holy Spirit and be baptized in the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in tongues. Being filled you will allow no place for the devil and will be bold to share the power of the gospel and see others filled, just as on the day of Pentecost. Don’t settle for any of man’s religion but go after a fiery relationship with God!

With a Beauty All its Own

This poem was inspired as I thought on love. God is love. We become enamored by love. Love fills us with boldness to see our world in a beautiful light! Unfortunately love is often unappreciated, abused and perverted. Love truly is what we make of it. If we respect it as something to be treasured above all and worthy of sacrifice, it will grow in us and the heavenly ethereal glow will continue to paint our world in amazing color, despite setbacks, persecutions and pain experienced in its pursuit. “Love is patient. Love is kind. Love does not behave itself unseemly. Love is not boastful. Love suffers long. Love believes all things. Love hopes all things. Love never fails.” Treasure love!

With a Beauty All Its Own

Love is a splendorous thing

It blings and rings and sings

With a beauty all its own

Like the purest garment sewn

With charm elusive and bold

Most grand above the finest gold

Valued priceless by the receiver

A worthless fake by the deceiver

To see it is to believe it

To believe it is to receive it

Too glorious to define

Sweetest grape from the truest vine

Softest thunder clap ever found

The war and peace of it, renowned

Takes patience, long and hope, renewed

To stay neath this glorious rider, ensued

There’s euphoria, task, quiet dedication

Pride, achievement with doses of humiliation

Its a placid lake and roaring sea

In its firm embrace, you learn how to be

You get what you bring to love’s astounding door

Vanity and pride only leave you wanting more

So let truth with humility be the gifts you bring

Steadfast hope and appreciation to your queen or king

Love is a splendorous thing

It blings and rings and sings With a beauty all its own

Our Knees Win the Victory

kneeling-in-prayer-nto-jesusThis poem was inspired in seeing all the warring that we do against one another for a “good cause”.  Prayer is the name God gave His House which was published by Jesus as He ran out the money changers who had made it a “den of thieves”. We must begin to realize the power of prayer. I have fallen and do at times still fall subject to behaving as if I could see my enemy with the naked eye. Our enemy is never flesh and blood! The world will never get this nor the worldly Christian. However God’s Word makes it plain that our enemy is demonic and a spiritual wickedness. When we really get this, the love of God will spread uncontained like a holy fire routing the enemy  and destroying every stronghold of hell. Prayer, (Communication and Communion with God) is the lawful weapon of a Christian. “The battle is not ours; the battle is the Lords.” Faith working by love which encourages prayer and is encouraged through prayer is the “hammer” that breaks the rock in our path. Let’s pray!

Our Knees Win the Victory

Our knees win the victory

Our knees help us win

Our knees help us see

When all about us seems dim

Jesus defeated Satan

On sweet Calvary

But in the throws of life’s battles

Our knees help us see

The battle is not ours

The battle is the Lord’s

When we surrender our strength

It’s Heaven’s bright Sword

Cuts to shreds our enemy

Makes him bow in defeat

The carnal forsaken

The prisoner set free

The victory is ours

The devil under our feet

A Holy Army wars

When we fall to our knees

The victory is certain

As the cross guarantees

Our warfare is not carnal

Nor enemy mortal man

It’s satan we serve

When we abandon God’s plan

So turn from carnal vengeance

Take authority in Jesus’ name

O’er every hellish devil

Our victory we’ll claim

Speaking faith in God’s power

Filled with the Spirit of God

We’ll wage war in this hour

And o’er our enemy trod

Every principality will fall in defeat

When all captives are set free

Our victory will be complete

In Love-powered faith

Clothed in Christ Our hope of glory

O’er all Heaven’s enemy

We’ll reign victorious

Earth’s fields then well plowed

Prepared for our Groom

His glorious Bride

Will be caught up in the clouds

Gift of God Within

This poem was inspired by a sincere desire to love and see loved all others through deed and true sacrifice, despite every carnal challenge one faces. This kind of love is pure and tangible and can only be expressed through Christ and for Christ as we surrender all that others might see God in us. This love is rare and does not weigh what is impossible with man against what is possible with God but simply expresses an undying gratitude for a love received which is undeserved and can never be earned. God is love and love is a consuming fire of selfless expression freely given and not earned but by Him who died for all that we might truly live. Love freely and live!

Gift of God Within

Is it possible to love the sinner

Yet hate the sin

To cherish burdened hearts

Kiss tearstained cheeks

Yet hate the vilest of vile within

I see yes with a hearty amen

Christ is our witness

Image of love’s perfection, clear

God’s mirror of serene calm

Rarest beauty of transcendence, dear

Gilead’s great healing balm

Salvation’s fruit for all the year

How do we love the sinner

We know how to hate the sin

Its keeping the two separate

Which proves difficult time and again

Christ is our witness

God’s gift to humble hearts

Those seeing their own weakness

Not piercing others with darts

Christ Jesus, our forgiveness

God’s key to unlock all sin’s chains

In the face of ultimate repentance

Only love and forgiveness remains

And faith, not in humanity

But in Christ, the power of God

Love God and all His creation

Love the sinner; hate the sin

Freed to love, actively, all others

Empowered through Christ

The gift of God within
